CVR Scholarships and Fellowships
Ian Howard Family Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded annually to new full time Master’s students who will study vision or perform vision related research. To be eligible, you must be nominated by your supervisor. Once your supervisor has completed that, the application will be available through York’s Awards portal.
Award Value: $8,000

Kevin Mackenzie Doctoral Fellowships (Entrance and Continuing Fellowships)
The Entrance Fellowship will be awarded annually to new PhD students who will be supervised by a CVR member. The Continuing Fellowship will be awarded to 2nd or 3rd year PhD students who is supervised by a CVR member.
To apply, applications must be submitted through York’s Awards portal.
Award Value: $5,000 Each

E. Lynn Kirshner Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded annually to a BBCS psychology doctoral candidate, specializing in Visual Science, and will be based on a senior-authored, independently produced, peer-reviewed paper that was published or accepted (in-press) in the preceding calendar year.
How to Apply: You need to be nominated for this award by your supervisor or the PI with whom you worked on the paper. Once you've been nominated, you will find the application in your York's Awards portal. You will see a question that will ask you to upload your research statement. Please upload your paper at that prompt.
Award Value: March 31st, 2026
Application Deadline: $1,000

Director’s Prize
The Director’s Prize will be awarded annually to a doctoral candidate specializing in Visual Science from any field other than Psychology and will be based on a senior-authored, independently produced, peer-reviewed paper that was published or accepted (in-press) in the preceding calendar year.

Award Value: $500
